An Electrical Installation Condition Report checks your wiring, boards and protection, and tells you plainly what's safe and what isn't. If anything needs fixing, we quote for it and put it right.
He even did improvements that were recommended but not required by the EICR. Highly recommended!
An EICR is a full check of a building's fixed wiring: the consumer unit or distribution boards, the circuits, earthing and bonding, and the devices that protect them. We carry them out for landlords, businesses, homeowners and buyers.
Circuits are isolated one at a time while they're tested, so most of the building keeps its power. In an occupied commercial building we agree the order with you first.
You get the report with every observation coded C1, C2, C3 or FI and explained in plain English. If anything needs fixing, we quote for it, put it right and certify the work.
Most installations should be inspected at a fixed interval, and sooner if the last report recommends it. These are the usual maximum gaps between reports.
| Building | Inspect at least every | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Rented homes in England | Inspect at least every: 5 years | Notes: A legal requirement for private landlords. Tenants get a copy, and required repairs must be done. |
| Offices, shops and commercial | Inspect at least every: 5 years | Notes: Often asked for by insurers and landlords' agents. |
| Schools and colleges | Inspect at least every: 5 years | Notes: Planned around term dates so teaching isn't interrupted. |
| Industrial premises | Inspect at least every: 3 years | Notes: Heavier use means shorter intervals. |
| Owner-occupied homes | Inspect at least every: 10 years | Notes: Also worth doing when you buy, sell or before major work. |
The circuits are inspected and tested, along with the boards, earthing and the protection devices that keep people safe.

The report lists each fault with a code, and a C1 or C2 is what makes it unsatisfactory. We give you a free quote to fix those and to look into any FI items, then carry out the work and certify it.
In England, private landlords must have the installation inspected and tested at least every five years, give tenants a copy, and fix any issues the report says are required.
No. An EICR reports on the condition of an existing installation. New work is covered by an Electrical Installation Certificate or a Minor Works Certificate.

It depends on the size of the installation and the number of boards and circuits. Quotes are free and there's no obligation.
