Lighting for the homes, the communal areas and the outside of the building, including the emergency lighting.

We have used Frontline on numerous projects from rewiring our house to new installation in a seven unit conversion.

What we do

We install the lighting inside each home, in the communal areas and around the outside of the building, with emergency lighting along the escape routes.

Inside each home, the lighting follows the agreed layout, with switching and dimming set out room by room. Communal corridors and stairs usually run on presence detection or timers, and external lighting on photocells, so the management company isn't paying to light empty spaces.

Emergency lighting along the escape routes follows BS 5266-1 and is tested and certified at handover, with a log book for recording its monthly and annual tests. External fittings are rated for the weather, and their cable routes are planned with the landscaping, so they're in before the ground is finished.

We work to your build programme, plot by plot, from bare shell to handover.

Every plot is tested before second fix and certified to BS 7671 by a NICEIC Approved Contractor, with the certificates ready for sale.

Questions about internal and external lighting

Who looks after the emergency lighting after handover?

The responsible person for the building, usually the management company, has to keep it tested: a short function test every month and a full-duration test once a year, recorded in the log book we hand over. We can carry out that testing if they'd like.

Can the communal lights run on sensors?

Yes. Corridors, stairs and bin and bike stores are often lit on presence detection or timers, which keeps the running costs down. The emergency lighting is separate and stays ready to work if the power fails.
