Tripping circuits, dead sockets and lights that won't work, traced to the cause and put right.
Sam turned up early and diligently went about finding the electrical fault we were experiencing.
We trace electrical faults to their cause, such as a circuit that keeps tripping or a socket that has stopped working, and put them right.
Faults are traced by testing, not guesswork. We isolate the circuit, test the wiring and what's connected to it, and narrow it down, because a circuit that keeps tripping is often caused by an appliance or a damp outside light rather than the wiring itself.
Once we've found the cause, we explain it and agree the repair with you before doing it. A repair to an existing circuit comes with a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate. If the fault points to a wider problem, such as damaged or very old wiring, we'll say so and recommend an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) rather than patch it up.
The same engineers who work on our commercial jobs do the work at home, and you get a written price before any work starts. For a fault, that's once we've found the cause.
Everything is tested and certified when it's done. We're a NICEIC Approved Contractor, so we self-certify the work that building regulations say must be notified and tell building control for you.
Unplug everything on the circuits that have gone off, reset the RCD, then plug things back in one at a time. If it trips when one appliance goes back in, that appliance is the likely cause. If it trips with nothing plugged in, or you see scorching or smell burning, leave it off and call an electrician.
The trip is the protection doing its job: it has detected a fault and cut the power. The fault may be minor, such as a failed appliance, or more serious, such as damaged wiring. Don't keep resetting a circuit that trips straight away. Get it tested.
