What we do

We install the fire detection and alarm systems, commission them and hand over the certificates with the rest of the paperwork.

Each home has its own mains-powered, interlinked smoke and heat alarms, to Approved Document B of the Building Regulations and BS 5839-6. The communal areas of a block may need their own system, depending on the building's fire strategy, and we install what the strategy specifies.

Every system is commissioned and tested before handover, and its certificates are handed over plot by plot with the rest of the paperwork. In a block, the alarms are planned with the door entry and the emergency lighting from the start, so the systems work together.

We work to your build programme, plot by plot, from bare shell to handover.

Every plot is tested before second fix and certified to BS 7671 by a NICEIC Approved Contractor, with the certificates ready for sale.

Questions about fire alarm and safety systems

What fire alarms does each new home need?

Mains-powered smoke alarms that are interlinked, so they all sound together, plus heat detection where Approved Document B of the Building Regulations or the fire strategy calls for it. BS 5839-6 gives the detail, and larger homes may need more coverage depending on their layout.

Which fire alarm certificates do we get?

For each home, the certificate for its smoke and heat alarms alongside the Electrical Installation Certificate. For any communal system, the BS 5839-1 certificates and a log book. They're handed over plot by plot with the rest of the paperwork.
