NESCOT College
Two floors of NESCOT's North Wing rewired in 10 weeks for Trevor Blake, with zero defects at handover and further contracts awarded since.
Fire alarm and emergency lighting systems, installed, commissioned and certified, with the certificates handed over alongside the rest of the paperwork.
The quality of the work was fantastic… work carried out in a busy shop and wellbeing centre.
We install, commission and certify fire alarm and emergency lighting systems, from detectors and call points to emergency fittings and exit signs, and can test and service them afterwards.
Fire alarm work in non-domestic buildings follows BS 5839-1, and emergency lighting follows BS 5266-1. The building's fire risk assessment and fire strategy set what's needed, such as how much of the building the alarm covers and which escape routes need emergency lighting, so we work from them and from your drawings.
At handover you get the fire alarm installation and commissioning certificates, the emergency lighting completion certificate and a log book for each system. Once the building is in use, the responsible person has to keep both systems tested, with a weekly fire alarm test, a monthly emergency lighting check and periodic servicing, which we can carry out for you.
We keep to your programme. In buildings that are in use, the work is planned around the people using them, with shutdowns out of hours or area by area.
Everything is tested before handover. The electrical installation is certified to BS 7671 by a NICEIC Approved Contractor, and the certificates and test results come with the rest of the handover paperwork.
Yes. The fire risk assessment, which the responsible person for the building must have under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, sets out what the alarm and emergency lighting need to cover. Send it with the drawings, and we'll price the systems to meet it.
For the fire alarm, installation and commissioning certificates to BS 5839-1. For the emergency lighting, a completion certificate to BS 5266-1. Each system comes with a log book for recording its routine tests, handed over with the electrical certificates and the O&M information.
