Extra sockets and switches added where a room's layout or use has changed.
Great communication with Matt to book the job. Sam, who completed the work was great. Very professional. Competitive pricing and good quality work.
We add sockets and switches where you need them, such as when a room is rearranged or becomes a home office.
Adding a socket to an existing circuit is often a small job, but the circuit has to be able to take it. We test it first, check it has RCD protection and spare capacity, and only then extend it. Where it can't, a new circuit is the better option, for example for a home office full of equipment.
Adding to an existing circuit outside a bathroom isn't notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations, but it still has to meet BS 7671, and you get a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate. A new circuit, or work in a bathroom, is notifiable and comes with an Electrical Installation Certificate and a Building Regulations compliance certificate.
The same engineers who work on our commercial jobs do the work at home, and you get a written price before any work starts. For a fault, that's once we've found the cause.
Everything is tested and certified when it's done. We're a NICEIC Approved Contractor, so we self-certify the work that building regulations say must be notified and tell building control for you.
Usually, if the existing circuit has RCD protection, is in good condition and has capacity to spare. We test it first. If it doesn't, we'll recommend a new circuit instead, which is notifiable work under Part P and comes with an Electrical Installation Certificate.
Yes. An outdoor socket needs to be weatherproof and protected by an RCD. We take its supply from a suitable circuit or run a new one, depending on what it's for: a socket for garden tools needs less than one for a hot tub.
